Table Fellowship

Today is Thursday, April 16th

The topic today is:

The Importance of Fellowship

The Thursday before the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection (Easter), Jesus was celebrating the Passover with His disciples around a fellowship meal.  The meal they were celebrating was the remembrance of  the Exodus, when God used Moses to lead the Israelites out slavery in Egypt.  My Jewish friends celebrate this Passover meal around this time of year, while my Christian friends and I commemorate the Last Supper.  Jesus ate with his close friends/disciples and they were privileged to hear His teachings along with the establishment of the sacrament of Communion.  Great and wonderful discussions, learning opportunities, and “Remembrances” all surround eating with family and friends around a table .

A government study, found that seniors who ate together, and socialized , ate more, and their nutrition improved.  This is why Senior Nutrition Centers began and are encouraged.  If you are single, invite people over for a meal.  If you are married, invite people over to dine.  It doesn’t have to be fancy.  Dinner parties used to be very popular.  I find them quaint, with better food and much more enjoyable that eating out at a restaurant.  Restaurant dining is noisy, many times rushed, and gets expensive.  Save your money and possible indigestion and eat around your table at home.  Fellowship with others!

Quote of the Day:

“Life’s Greatest Blessings are found when gathered around the Family Table”

Take Action:

Plan and host a dinner party sometime soon!

Christians, remember the Lord’s Supper.  Jesus said, “Do this in remembrance of me”
